JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – Region 8 travelers headed to Little Rock ran into delays and detours Tuesday following a large hazmat spill.

IDriveArkansas reports the spill completely covered Highway 67 southbound, about 0.5 miles northeast of Exit 22 near Austin in Lonoke County.

The Lonoke County Office of Emergency Management director said the sulfuric acid spilled on the southbound side.

The acid spilled into a small creek, but there was no worry about the material flowing into a different body of water.

One person was hurt in the crash, but according to KARK, it was not known if the injury was due to the crash or the acid spill.
